The Challenge
TradeShowBooth.com needed to modernize their ecommerce platform and migrate from BigCommerce to Shopify Plus to improve the overall user experience and streamline backend processes. The migration presented several challenges: managing complex product data, transferring downloadable assets like graphics templates, and maintaining SEO integrity.
Additionally, the company required custom theme development, integration of file upload capabilities, and the implementation of a web-to-print functionality to allow customers to customize their products.

What We Did
Our scope of work for TradeShowBooth.com included the following key services:

We managed the migration of product data from BigCommerce to Shopify Plus. This included extracting product listings, imagery, and category structures from the BigCommerce database via the API and mapping them to Shopify’s product structure. We also migrated auxiliary content, such as downloadable graphics templates, and ensured all product information was accurately moved and properly formatted.
Custom Theme Design and Development
We worked closely with TradeShowBooth.com to develop a custom Shopify Plus theme that mirrored the user experience and interface of their previous website, DisplayOverstock.com, while incorporating new branding guidelines and design modifications. Our design team provided mockups for the updated pages, including the homepage, product pages, and content-based pages. After incorporating feedback and completing revisions, we developed the custom theme using HTML, CSS, and Shopify’s Liquid templating language.
Web-to-Print Functionality
One of the key requirements was the implementation of a web-to-print functionality to allow customers to customize their products online. We developed a feature that enabled users to move and edit text, change fonts, and adjust graphic assets from a limited library of stock graphics. This functionality provided a seamless way for customers to design their displays directly on the website, simplifying the customization process and enhancing user engagement.
File Upload and Custom Product Options
We integrated a file upload feature that allowed customers to upload design files for their customized displays, similar to the previous functionality available on DisplayOverstock.com. Additionally, we developed product page templates that supported multiple product options, enabling customers to select specific attributes (e.g., rush delivery, frame options) that would alter product pricing, display imagery, and order summaries.
SEO Maintenance and 301 Redirects
To maintain the SEO integrity of TradeShowBooth.com during the migration, we conducted a detailed analysis of the existing URL structure and implemented 301 redirects. This ensured that all existing links directed customers to the new Shopify site without losing search engine rankings or traffic. We submitted a new sitemap and monitored site performance post-launch to ensure SEO continuity.
Store Setup and Backend Integrations
We handled the Shopify store setup, including the checkout procedure, automated tax calculations, and integration of the Shopify Carrier Calculated Shipping API for real-time shipping estimates. We also integrated payment gateways, tracking codes, and installed essential marketing tools like Klaviyo for email automation and Google Analytics for enhanced tracking.
