The Challenge
Urban Moonshine needed to migrate their ecommerce platform from WooCommerce to Shopify Plus to modernize their online store, enhance the shopping experience, and streamline backend processes. The migration posed several challenges, including the migration of complex product listings, category structures, and historical data.
They also required a new theme setup, customized user interface design, the implementation of 301 redirects to maintain SEO rankings, and the setup of a wholesale clone store to cater to their B2B customers.

What We Did
Our scope of work for Urban Moonshine included the following key services:
Data and Content Migration
We managed the migration of Urban Moonshine’s content, including product listings, categories, blogs, and historical backend data from WooCommerce to Shopify Plus. The migration process involved utilizing migration software, while Urban Moonshine’s team provided support in quality assurance and reformatting the product structure to fit the new platform. This collaborative effort ensured a smooth transition with minimal data discrepancies.
301 Redirects and SEO Maintenance
To mitigate the risk of SEO degradation during the migration, we conducted a detailed analysis of the existing URL structure and implemented 301 redirects. Tools like Google Webmaster Tools, SEO Powersuite, and Shopify’s Transportr app were used to map and implement the redirects, helping Urban Moonshine retain their search engine visibility post-migration.
Theme Selection, Setup, and Customization
We worked with Urban Moonshine to set up a new theme that aligned with their brand identity. The goal was to create a clean, easy-to-navigate user experience while working within a prudent budget and a fast timeline. Our design team provided customization for the user interface, tailoring the theme to meet Urban Moonshine’s specific requirements, including branding, color schemes, and visual elements.
Wholesale Clone Store Setup
In addition to the main retail store, we set up a wholesale clone store for Urban Moonshine’s B2B customers. This store was password-protected, allowing only authorized wholesale accounts to access it. We established multiple price tiers for customer groups, enabling Urban Moonshine to manage their wholesale pricing structure efficiently.
Store Setup and Integrations
We set up Urban Moonshine’s Shopify store, including uploading product listings, configuring collections and sub-collections, and setting up the checkout process. We also integrated common carriers for real-time shipping estimates and set up automated tax calculations using Shopify’s Avalara Tax Software. Additional integrations included Klaviyo for email marketing, Zendesk for customer support, and social media channels for enhanced engagement.
Gift with Purchase Functionality
Utilizing Shopify Scripts, we implemented a gift-with-purchase feature, allowing Urban Moonshine to add promotional items to customers’ carts automatically when certain conditions were met. This feature helped enhance customer satisfaction and boost average order value.
